SEVEN SPRINGS — First responders and law enforcement officers were back at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park over the weekend continuing their search for Antonio Hernandez Sanches.
Sanches, 23, has been missing since Feb. 6., when he was last seen at his job at Mt. Olive Pickle Company.
His vehicle was later found at Cliffs of the Neuse, and a search for Sanches has been ongoing since Feb. 8 involving multiple agencies, including the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Olive Police Department, NC State Parks, Arr-Mac Water Response Team, and Seven Springs Fire Department.
Joel Gillie, Public Information Officer for Wayne County, told Goldsborodailynews.com on Monday that the search for Sanches has expanded beyond Cliffs of the Neuse to other portions of the Neuse River.
Gillie added that foul play is still not suspected. He also stated that Wayne County Sheriff Larry Pierce remains committed to searching for Sanches as long conditions and manpower allow.
Gillie also noted that Sanches left nothing behind that would lead investigators to believe he was intentionally trying to disappear.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Olive Police Department, Wayne County Emergency Management, Arr-Mac Water Response Team, Seven Springs Fire Department, NC Wildlife, NC State Parks, Wake Forest Fire Department, NC Emergency Management, and the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office have been assisting in the search efforts.
Additionally, Craven County Emergency Management has joined the operation, utilizing an Underwater Search & Rescue ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) to assist in locating Sanches.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and partnering agencies remain dedicated to this search and urge anyone with relevant information to contact the Wayne County Office of Emergency Services at (919) 731-1493.
