Joseph Edward “Eddie” Barnes, Jr., 71, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Born on April 19, 1953 in Wilson County, he was son to Jospeh Edward (JE) Barnes and Alma Dorothy Pittman Barnes.

Eddie is survived by his mother; his daughter, Shannon Barnes Bruton and husband, Gray; his grandchildren, Trent and Claire Bruton; his sisters, Joy Watson and husband, Danny, Jan Brinchek and husband, Steve and Annette Creech and husband, Danny; his ex-wife and close friend, Elaine Richardson and five nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph (JE) Barnes and his nephew, Bradley Ray Watson.

Eddie will lie in state on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Kenly Funeral Service. A graveside service to honor his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Kenly Cemetery with Reverend Paul Dunham officiating the service. The family will receive friends following the service.
