March 12, 2025, 72, Raleigh —

Brenda Gail Best Schroeder, age 72, passed away Wednesday evening, March 12, 2025, at UNC Rex Hospital.  Born in Mt. Olive, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph “Juice” Nelson Best and Hilda Grey Price Best. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Leon “Hoss” Hoffman. A member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, Brenda was a health care technician at Cherry Hospital for twenty years. She graduated from Wayne Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing. She was a very devoted wife, mom and grandmother.

A service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held on Sunday, March 16th at 2:00 pm at the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church with Pastor Savannah Demuynck officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Saturday, March 15th from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Brenda is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Ralph Edward Schroeder; her children, Heather Denise Schroeder and her fiancée, Michael Carraway, Patrick Nelson Schroeder and his wife, Shanda, Robert “Bobby” Schroeder and his wife, Brittany; her brother, Nelson Edward Best; her sister, Mary Ellen Hoffman; her grandchildren, Landon Schroeder, Britney Schroeder, Emalyn Schroeder and Katherine Schroeder; her best friends that were like sisters, Mary Brinson and June Johnson and her special canine companion, Oreo.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 158, Mount Olive, NC 28365.
