Annual St. Baldrick’s Event Raises Over $32,000 for Childhood Cancer Research

The annual St. Baldrick’s Cuts for Cures event held at the HUB in downtown Goldsboro on Saturday raised over $32,000 for childhood cancer research.

For the fifth year in a row, the Goldsboro Elks Lodge organized, hosted, was a sponsor, and had a shavee team in the event.

Other sponsors of the event include UNC Health Wayne who also provided onsite cancer screening information and a shavee team.

Other sponsors included Tillman’s Restaurant Supplies and Equipment, and Mt. Olive Pickle Company.

Due to the lodge’s continued good works on behalf of children with cancer, the City of Goldsboro proclaimed March as the Month of St. Baldricks.

Twenty-five community members “braved the shave” to conquer childhood cancer.

In addition, Goldsboro Brew Works and Brick’s WoodFired Pizza donated a portion of their profits from sales during the event.

In honor of Jennifer Kuykendall, Well Traveled Beer sponsored a shavee team, sold t-shirts, held a gift basket raffle, and donated all their profits from the sale of their green beer for the entire day.

Transformations Salon, Hair Design Studio, and Airman’s Cuts provided the hair stylists and equipment to help our volunteers go bald for a cause.

Volunteers also manned the free face painting and fairy hair stations.

Over $32,000 was raised at the Cuts for Cures event and every single dollar will be donated to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the leading funder of childhood cancer research worldwide.

Every two minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer.

One in five children will not survive their cancer battle.

Together, we can conquer childhood cancers.
