Wayne County Animal Services to Host Low-Cost Rabies Clinics in April

Wayne County Animal Services will host four low-cost rabies vaccination clinics this April to help residents protect their pets and comply with North Carolina state law. Vaccinations will be available for just $5 per pet.

North Carolina General Statute §130A-185 requires all pet owners to have their dogs, cats, and ferrets vaccinated against rabies by four months of age and to maintain a current rabies vaccination.

Residents may attend any of the following drive-up clinics:

Saturday, Apr. 19

  • 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Eastern Wayne High School
  • 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Spring Creek High School

Saturday, Apr. 26

  • 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Grantham Elementary School
  • 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Northwest Elementary School

“Protecting our pets from rabies is a simple step that makes a big difference,” said Graham Price, Director of Wayne County Animal Services. “These clinics make it quick, easy, and affordable for every resident to keep your pet protected and keep our community safe.”

Each rabies vaccination is $5, and clinics will accept cash only.

Vaccinations are available for dogs and cats only.

To help speed up the check-in process, residents are asked to bring a valid driver’s license or photo ID.

If your pet has been previously vaccinated, bring proof of prior rabies vaccination to receive a 3-year booster; without documentation, your pet will receive a 1-year vaccination.
