DUDLEY — Saturday afternoon firefighters from Arrington, Dudley, and Indian Springs, along with the North Carolina Forestry Service were dispatched to a control burn that got out of hand behind a residence on Squirrel Ridge Drive off of Arrington Bridge Road.
Personnel from the forestry service brought in a plow and proceeded to cut a line around the fire, and gained some control in keeping it from spreading deeper in the woods.
A second plow was reportedly on its way to assist in the operation.
Firefighters stood by to ensure the fire didn’t spread to other structures in the area.
