WCC to Showcase Work from Global Scholars, Honors Students

Wayne Community College will hold its annual showcase of work from the Scholars of Global Distinction and Honors Program students.

“A Glocal Experience Honoring Your World” will be held from 6 p.m. to 8, on Apr. 10, in the Wayne Learning Center (.

The event is free and open to the public to attend.

This “glocal” event highlights the interconnection of global and local issues.

Honors students and Global Scholars are preparing immersive experiences, interactive and informational displays, research posters, presentations, and more related to one or more of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The event’s aim is to inspire participants to value international and community connections, solutions, and culture.

This year, 86 students will showcase more than 35 presentations with topics such as “A Global Perspective of Artificial Intelligence,” “Food Waste: More Than Meets the Eye,” “The Fountain of Health,” “A Fishy Frequency: Underwater Noise Pollution,” and “Little Learners, Big Dreams.”

The presentations and displays are the result of research and projects completed for biology, communications, English, statistics, sociology, and leadership development courses.

All guests will receive a passport and earn stickers as they learn about the Sustainable Development Goals and the many global and local topics students have been investigating.

Those who complete their passports will receive a souvenir prize.
