MOUNT OLIVE -– The University of Mount Olive (UMO) will hold its annual Spring Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Apr. 11, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Apr. 12, at the UMO Greenhouse, located at 205 Bert Martin Road, Mount Olive.
The event will feature a selection of plants grown and nurtured by UMO students, including Boston ferns, geraniums, herbs, garden vegetables, succulents, perennials, flowering bedding plants, and mixed pots.
Throughout the semester, students in various agricultural courses take ownership of the greenhouse as a working lab, propagating plants from seeds, rooted cuttings, and purchased plugs.
Under the guidance of Associate Professor of Plant Science Dr. Jennifer Bradley, students not only learn the science of plant cultivation but also build skills in business operations, marketing, and customer service.
“The University of Mount Olive’s plant science students gain invaluable hands-on experience as part of their degree program,” said Dr. Bradley. “This is more than just a sale. It’s an immersive learning experience that prepares our students for real-world careers in horticulture, agribusiness, and plant science.”
Proceeds from the plant sale support continued learning opportunities within the plant science program and contribute to the sustainability of future greenhouse projects.
Community members are encouraged to arrive early for the best selection.
Cash and card payments will be accepted on-site.
