March 24, 2025, 84, Pikeville —

Deacon Eugene Yelverton, 84, of Pikeville answered the Master’s call on Monday, March 24, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.

Homegoing service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at Saints Delight United Holy Church in LaGrange. Burial will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery in Goldsboro. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. at the church.

Deacon Yelverton was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on April 30, 1940 to the late Freddie Cecil and Rosa Johnson Yelverton. He was a faithful member of Saints Delight United Holy Church in LaGrange where he served as Deacon and president of the usher board. He was a valued employee with O’Berry Center and Cherry Hospital where he retired. Following his retirement, he worked with Skilled Creations in Wilson, North Carolina.

Those carrying on his legacy include his loving wife of over 60 years, Thelma Marie Yelverton; one son, Rodney Lamont Yelverton (Devida) of Dudley; one daughter, Angela Faye Yelverton of Georgia; one godson, Reginald Sauls of Greenville; one goddaughter, Earlie Barnes of Greenville; one sister, Gaynell Y. Uzzell (Herbert) of Goldsboro and one granddaughter, Krystal Yelverton.
