Wayne County Board of Education to Meet Monday, April 7

GOLDSBORO, N.C.  – The Wayne County Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the WCPS Central Services Boardroom, located at 2001 E. Royall Avenue, Goldsboro. The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. with a closed session, followed by the open session.

During the meeting, the Board is set to review and discuss several key topics, including:

  • First Reads of New or Revised Policies, such as:
    • Policy 5120 – Relationship with Law Enforcement
    • Policy 7625 – Local Supplement for Teachers, Media Coordinators, Guidance Counselors, or Other Certified and Certain Non-Certified Personnel
    • Policy 8305 – Federal Grant Administration
    • Policy 9125 – Participation by Minority Businesses
  • Information Items:
    • Updates on JROTC expansion and applications
    • Presentation of the Superintendent’s Proposed Budget for FY 2025-2026

The Board will also take action on several proclamations honoring special observances, including:

  • Month of the Military Child
  • Month of the Young Child
  • School Library Media Month
  • Autism Acceptance & Awareness Month
  • Occupational Therapy Month

In addition, the agenda includes committee reports and items for approval related to curriculum, finance, and support services, such as:

  • Curriculum & Instruction purchase orders and contracts
  • Approval of ClearGov financial software
  • Review of vehicle surplus
  • Updates and approvals for Rosewood Middle School projects and materials testing
  • Donations received
  • Wings Over Wayne MOU
  • Adjustments to the 2025-2026 non-traditional calendar to align with the community college calendar
  • Regular year test re-administration
