Wayne County, NC – The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce announced a significant leadership change, appointing Todd Walker as its new President and CEO, effective July 2025. Currently stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (AFB) in Goldsboro, Colonel Walker will succeed a legacy of outstanding leadership following the three-year tenure of Scott Satterfield and the decade-long contributions of Kate Daniels.
Todd Walker will retire from his military career in June 2025 after a distinguished and impressive tenure in the United States Air Force. His final military role as Commander of the 4th Mission Support Group at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base has had a huge impact on 22,000 people in our community. His military career has been marked by leadership in high-level positions all over the United States and the world, including Delaware, New Mexico, Qatar, and Kuwait. When asked why he chose Wayne County as his next home, he shared, “The community embrace sold me immediately. When I was deployed, this community opened their arms around my family, and that meant the world to me.” He spoke fondly of his wife, Janelle, and their five children.
No stranger to the South, Walker originally comes from Marietta, Georgia, but this opportunity in Wayne County marks a new chapter and underscores Colonel Walker’s strong leadership experience and proven ability to drive success in dynamic, high-pressure environments. Walker expressed his ambitions and is “excited to keep the momentum going forward in engaging, equipping, and elevating the voices of our county businesses.”
His extensive background in military strategy, organizational leadership, and community engagement is expected to provide valuable new perspectives to the Chamber’s initiatives. Colonel Walker’s leadership will foster economic development, support local businesses throughout Wayne County, and strengthen the connection to Seymour Johnson AFB—a critical asset and resource for our community.
Walker also commented, “I would like to thank the Chamber Board, and their entire staff at the Chamber,” and added, “I also would be remiss not to mention the entire community. I’ve not seen such kindness and love in my career as what this county provides.”
