Goldsboro, N.C. — Rewarding Responders, a Wayne County-based nonprofit that honors the sacrifices of first responders, has announced Captain Brian Boom and his son, Hudson, as recipients of the 2025 First Responder Family Vacation. The pair will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida this fall.

Captain Boom has served as a dedicated firefighter for over 12 years, beginning his journey in emergency service at just 15 years old. He currently serves as a Captain with the Thoroughfare Volunteer Fire Department in Wayne County, NC.

“Brian’s promotion to Captain at such a young age is a testament to his commitment, not only as a firefighter but as a devoted father,” said Mallory Dumond, Founder and President of Rewarding Responders. “Out of hundreds of nominations nationwide, Brian and Hudson’s story touched every member of our selection committee.”
