WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. – The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that human remains found in December 2024 belong to 29-year-old Caitlin Hodges, who was first reported missing to the Goldsboro Police Department on July 25, 2024.
The remains were originally discovered in the 900 block of Dollard Town Road on December 10, 2024. In an initial update from the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (NCOCME) on March 20, authorities reported that the remains were consistent with being female, but not believed to be Caitlin Hodges at that time.
However, following further examination and forensic testing, the NCOCME notified the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office on April 8 that the remains were, in fact, positively identified as Hodges. Her family has since been notified.
The case remains under active investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward by contacting the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office or Crimestoppers.
