Jimmy Earl Wadsworth, 71, of Smithfield, passed away Thursday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 18, 1953 to the late Jim Wadsworth and Myrtie Mae Toler Wadsworth in Wayne County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; Dick Otis Wadsworth, Fid Wadsworth, James Robert Wadsworth, and Anthony (Pete) Wadsworth and sister, Barbara Woodard.
Jimmy enjoyed fishing and hunting and being outside. He loved watching birds, especially humming birds. He was a member of Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. His church and church family were so important to him. He served in many capacities including choir and Wednesday night youth. Mr. Wadsworth served his country in the United States Army.
First and foremost was his love for God. His faith was important to him. Not far behind was his love for his family, his children and especially his grandkids. Last, but not least, was his fondness and love for his canine companions, Pyper and Calico.
The visitation for the family will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 2:00 pm – 3:45 pm at Tee’s Chapel Church with the funeral following at 4:00pm. The family request casual attire for the services to honor Jimmy’s wishes. Reverend Dennis Pollock and Reverend Rex Evans will be officiating. The committal will be held Monday, April 14, at 11:00 am at Tee’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife; Mary King Wadsworth, sons; Wesley Wadsworth (Angela), Smithfield, Joey Wadsworth (Ashley), Raleigh, daughter; Jennifer Gauci (Scott), Princeton, sister; Shirley Williford (Earl), Goldsboro, grandchildren; Lily & Emma Slaerman, Sara Wadsworth, Ava Wadsworth, Austin Wadsworth, Avery Wadsworth, and Noah Wadsworth.
