SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 14) – University of Mount Olive freshman Oscar Lönnqvist holds the individual lead at the Conference Carolinas Championship after a two-under 70 in Monday’s second round. Lönnqvist, who has a three-under 141 total, is two strokes ahead entering the final round at The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C.
As a team, Mount Olive ranks second, just seven strokes behind defending champion Barton, with a 19-over 595. Barton leads at 12-over 588, while Shorter University is one stroke back in third at 21-over 597.
Lönnqvist’s consistency—eight birdies and 24 pars in two rounds—has led Mount Olive. Junior Shawn Benson is second at five-over 149, tied for 13th, with Max Lindblad, Lavrans Broen Holm, and Gabriel Ekholm chipping in for the team cause.
Mount Olive tees off the final round on Tuesday, April 15 at 9:20 a.m., with the individual title and team championship within its grasp.
