Goldsboro, NC — Wayne Community College’s Upsilon Chi Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society inducted 43 new members in a formal induction ceremony conducted at Goldsboro, N.C. Phi Theta Kappa honor society aims to recognize scholarship among students attaining a GPA level of 3.5 and higher, devoting themselves to scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship as well.
During the ceremony, WCC recruiting specialist and chapter advisor Madelyn Luethje welcomed new members, and guest speaker Geoff Hulse, attorney and member of the WCC Board of Trustees, encouraged students in a message about making sound life choices and returning something to one’s community.
The event also highlighted the chapter’s community service events, including a fundraiser for the North Carolina Down Syndrome Alliance, for which a check for donations was presented to board member Bryan King.
Phi Theta Kappa offers lifetime membership and access to scholarships, leadership development, and career growth. The Upsilon Chi chapter continues to uphold the emphasis on academic success and community service in Eastern North Carolina.
