Goldsboro, NC — April 17, 2025, a fire broke out Thursday afternoon at an apartment unit on Longleaf Avenue in Goldsboro, prompting a swift response from local emergency crews.
Goldsboro Fire Department units were dispatched to 708-3 Longleaf Avenue at 2:56 p.m., arriving on scene just three minutes later to find flames and smoke rising from the roof of the structure. Crews quickly brought the fire under control, remaining on site for salvage operations, overhaul efforts, and to begin the investigation into the cause.
Fortunately, the fire was contained to a single unit, and no other apartments sustained damage.
One resident sustained minor burns to their hands and was treated at the scene by Wayne County EMS. No other injuries were reported. The resident is currently receiving assistance from the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross for immediate needs and relocation support.
A total of five fire apparatus and three command/staff vehicles responded to the call, with 20 personnel working the scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
