Goodwill Launches Rotary Club to Combat Food Insecurity in Eastern NC

Durham, NC — Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina (GIENC) recently initiated the formation of the Rotary Club of Goodwill for Eastern North Carolina under Rotary International’s goal of “Service Above Self.” The club will tackle issues within communities—starting with food deficits as part of its Rotary Service Challenge.

This partnership brings together two institutions with common values of service, ethics, and community impact. At the launch, the Rotary Club has distributed $2,250 worth of food vouchers to 48 Rotary Clubs in District 7710, triggering action and awareness of food insecurity instantly.

GIENC considers the club an extension of the opportunity for employees—and ultimately, the community at large—to grow as leaders through service to others. With service to a 51-county region, the club will expand GIENC’s reach and foster its focus on education, work, and life changing opportunities.

Goodwill employees and charter members are already celebrating this new chapter in service.
