Elmer Ray Murray, 57, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born on December 22, 1967 in Johnston County, he was son to the late James Henry Murray and Alberta Hinnant Murray.

Elmer is survived by his sisters, Sidney Barnes and husband, Bobby, Alice Murray and husband, Tony; his brothers, James Murray and wife Dorothy, Robert Murray and wife, Loretta; six nieces and nephews; four step-nieces; nine great nieces and nephews; and eight step-great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Kenly Funeral Service. A service to honor Elmer’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Aubrey Williamson officiating. Interment will conclude at the Murray Family Cemetery.
