Goldsboro, NC (April 22, 2025) — A car accident on Highway 70 East caused delays this morning near Musgrave Equipment Company, located at 3866 US Hwy 70 W. The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m., according to initial reports.
Authorities responded quickly to the scene after a silver Volvo was reportedly found stationary in the roadway, prompting several vehicles to swerve around it. Witnesses described the situation as tense but confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
One commuter, Tyler Byrd, stated, “When I came around the curb there was a guy in a silver Volvo who was basically sitting in the road. Everyone had to swerve around him. By the time I got to work, there were sirens and people pulled over. That’s when I realized something had happened.”
Another witness, Michael Joyner, added more context, explaining, “The guy was sitting on the back of his car with the trunk open holding a sign that said ‘need gas.’ Later, I saw an ambulance and state troopers out there. Someone mentioned he had gone across the street looking for fuel — and there was a propane tank in his car.”
A third local, Danny Gill, observed a man walking near the area holding a gas can. “That corner is dangerous,” he noted. “You’re practically on top of any stopped vehicle when you round that bend.”
Emergency services cleared the area shortly after 9:00 a.m. No injuries have been reported, though authorities are continuing to investigate the cause and circumstances surrounding the stalled vehicle.
Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling through the area, especially around tight curves and heavily trafficked corridors like this stretch of Hwy 70.
