Ronnie Wayne Gardner

April 16, 2025, 76, Goldsboro —

Ronnie Wayne Gardner, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Wayne County on April 17, 1948, Ronnie was the son of the late William Henry Gardner and Edith Bowen Gardner. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles H. Gardner.

A man of quiet strength and skill, Ronnie dedicated over 40 years of his life to RN Rouse Company in Goldsboro, where he became known not only for his work ethic but also for his mastery in construction. His knowledge and precision were respected by all who worked alongside him, and his insight was often sought by others in the field. Ronnie retired as a vice-president with RN Rouse in 2006.

Ronnie had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, especially when it came to antique cars. He found joy and purpose in restoring classic vehicles—bringing life back into forgotten machines. Whether working with metal or breathing new life into vintage toy trucks, Ronnie had a gift for making something out of nothing. His hands were always busy, and his heart was always in it.

A devoted fan of NASCAR, Ronnie cherished time spent at home watching races, but above all, he valued the moments with his beloved family. He was the best husband, daddy, and granddaddy his family could ever ask for—steadfast, generous, and full of love.

Ronnie also had a curious mind and a passion for history, particularly genealogy. He spent countless hours researching and preserving the legacy of those who came before him, ensuring that his family’s story would never be forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Bonnie Rye Gardner; daughter, Donna Gardner Kemp and her husband, Dr. David Kemp; grandson, Landon Gardner Case and his wife, Kyleigh; and great-grandchildren, Ira Case and Aletta Case. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Terri Gardner; brother-in-law, John Rye and wife, Martie; sister-in-law, Terri Rye Davis and husband, Johnny; sister-in-law, Jennifer Rye Mills and husband, Jerry; sister-in-law, Wilma Rye Shepard and husband, Jimmy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply.

A private graveside service for the family was held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Siloam Homes, 1053 Quakenbush Rd, Snow Camp, NC 27349.

Services have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
