Wayne County, NC — For four decades, the Wayne County Junior Livestock Show & Sale has been a cornerstone event for youth in the region, and this year is no exception. Sponsored by the Wayne County Livestock Development Association, Inc. (WCLDA) and Wayne County Cooperative Extension, the show first began in 1985 with a mission that still holds strong today: to give young people hands-on experience in livestock selection, management, exhibition, and marketing.
This year, 67 local youth are participating in the program, each bringing dedication, hard work, and a passion for agriculture to the event. The show provides these participants with the chance to build lifelong skills, gain confidence, and connect with their community through agricultural education.
Organizers say community support is essential to the success of the program, not just to keep the tradition alive but to ensure each youth’s project is a meaningful learning experience.
As the event continues, the call goes out to local businesses, organizations, and residents to support the youth through attendance, sponsorship, and encouragement.
