Members of the Wayne County Sheriff’s K-9 Units and Sheriff Larry Pierce met on the campus of Wayne Community College Monday morning to receive some new cooling vests that were donated to the K-9s. Debbie and Tom Nicholson of Goldsboro donated the vests to the sheriff’s K-9 program in the honor of the John Robert Kotfila, Jr. Memorial. Kotfila was a deputy sheriff in Florida and was killed in the line of duty in 2016. The vests are design to help keep the K-9 dogs cool during their patrol operations.
