On Tuesday, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners approved its National Nurses Week Proclamation.
County Manager Craig Honeycutt read the proclamation before its approval.
The proclamation notes there are more than 3.9 million professional active RNs and licensed practical nurses in the U.S.
Nursing is the nation’s largest healthcare profession, with over 1,600 registered and licensed practical nurses in Wayne County.
Commissioner Wayne Aycock noted stated this was an especially appropriate time to honor the nation’s nurses since many are helping others during the coronavirus pandemic.
National Nurses Week is recognized May 6th – 12th.
