David Jackson “Jack” Sasser, 89, peacefully passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Craven County on January 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Haywood Sasser and Lelia Dail Sasser.
Jack retired from Wayne Community College and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for fifty-three years.
A graveside service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Rudy West officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sara Gwaltney Sasser; daughters, Lib Coombs and Diane Woodard and husband, Ronnie; nieces, Nancy Keel and husband, Ralph and Fara Harris-Evans and husband, Chris; and several nieces and nephews from Sara’s family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Lee Hassell.
