Bond Set At $5 Million For Lenoir Co. Shooting Suspect

A Lenoir County shooting suspect is out of the hospital and in jail.

According to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Robert Lee Strother had his first appearance in court on Monday, and he is being held at the W.E. “Billy” Smith Detention Center under a $5 million bond.   He faces numerous charges including two counts of Attempted Murder.

Strother is accused of shooting a Lenoir County deputy leading to a two day manhunt in the Kennedy Home Road area near La Grange.  While numerous emergency response agencies tried to locate the armed and dangerous suspect, Strother also shot a resident while stealing that victim’s pickup truck.

Strother was shot multiple times during a gunfight with law enforcement on Saturday, bringing the manhunt to an end.  The State Bureau of Investigation is taking over the investigation of the incident due to the officer-involved shooting that ended the situation.
