North Carolina will be under a modified stay-at-home order starting this Friday, December 11.
Gov. Roy Cooper announced the new restrictions Tuesday during a media briefing where he called North Carolina’s current COVID-19 trends “alarming.”
Under the modified stay-at-home order:
- Residents are required to stay at home between 10 PM and 5 AM
- Businesses, including restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, personal care businesses and most retail stores will be required to close by 10 PM.
- All on-site alcohol consumption sales must end by 9 PM
As of Tuesday, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reports there have been 404,032 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state. 5,605 of those cases have resulted in death.
