Robert Morris “Bobby” Smith

Robert Morris “Bobby” Smith

December 4, 2020, 55,

Robert Morris “Bobby” Smith, 55, completed his journey home on Friday, December 4, 2020 to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Bobby was born in Newport News, Virginia on May 13, 1965 to the late James Edward Smith and Diane Hickman Smith. In his early life, he worked for Miller Body Shop where he developed a love for bodywork and racing. Soon thereafter, he began his battle with kidney disease. This led to him receiving seven kidney transplants over the course of 37 years.

As his kidney began to limit his go-kart racing lifestyle, Bobby transitioned to working on small engines, primarily for Go-Karts. Bobby was known for his ability to repair virtually anything with an engine. Some of his additional pastimes and passions included supporting organ donation, mowing the grass, restoring classic cars (most recently his red Nova), but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his sacrifices and unconditional love.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at The Bridge (Smithfield Campus). A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at The Bridge (Smithfield Campus) with Pastors, Allen Peacock, Andy Stovall and Mike Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Princeton. We respectfully ask everyone to wear a face covering and practice social distancing guidelines while attending the visitation and funeral service.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dora Smith; children, Tabitha Colgan and husband Blake, Kathryn Lucas and husband Corey, and Allan Smith and wife Rachel; seven grandchildren, Caleb Colgan, Jackson Colgan, Robert Lucas, Laura Lucas, Joshua Colgan, Camden Smith, and Jarred Lucas; sister, Kathy Best and brother, Kenny Smith.

To honor Bobby, donations can be made to The Sinai/Miller Transplantation Institute Transplant Living Center located in Normandie Court, NY on-line at www.mountsinai.org

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
