The search for the next Superintendent of Wayne County Public Schools continues.
At this week’s special meeting, Wayne County Board of Education Chair Chris West announced the district would be reopening the application period for superintendent candidates.
The new application period runs through March 15th.
The superintendent search will still be handled by the North Carolina School Board Association.
Also at this week’s meeting, it was announced Dr. David Lewis would be the next interim superintendent, replacing Dr. James Merrill whose contract ends at the end of December.
Dr. Lewis is currently WCPS’s Assistant Superintendent of Accountability/Information Technology Services.
