Margaret Virginia Byrd, 85, completed her journey home on Sunday, December 27, 2020 to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Virginia was born in Wayne County on November 30, 1935 to the late George and Margaret Knowles Guffery. She was married to the late Percy Byrd. Virginia was a valued employee of the bookstore at Wayne Community College. She always loved beautiful things and the opportunity to do interior design.

Virginia was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro. She has always been devoted to her church and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Her warmth, generosity and kind spirit were well known and cherished by those she encountered throughout her life. Above all, she loved spending time with her children. She will be missed.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church followed by a service to celebrate Virginia’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with her son, Rick Whaley, and Pastor Bill Rose officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Kim Rogers and husband Peter; son, Rick Whaley; grandson, Justin Rogers; and uncle, Alee Knowles.
