Wayne County Provides Latest Vaccine Update

If you are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine (65+, health care worker, or child care worker) and would like to receive your first dose on Monday, Wayne County has launched an online scheduling system for you to sign up for an appointment.

Wayne County Public Information Officer Joel Gillie said, “As we continue to press forward in our vaccine rollout operation, we are always looking to improve the service with our residents. When vaccinations became available, the only two providers were the Health Department and the Hospital. We launched our waiting list to be able to call people back when an appointment became available. As more providers have come online– many of the individuals on our waiting list have received their vaccine through another provider. We continue to operate our call center and are calling everyone on our wait list, but we want to also allow flexibility in scheduling and the ability for people to schedule themselves 24/7. With our new online scheduler– you can pick an appointment time, fill out the state required paperwork, and receive an email with confirmation of your appointment.”

You MUST be eligible to signup for a first dose online. This includes anyone 65 or older, health care worker, or child care worker.  This is for a first dose only. If you have received your first dose and are waiting for a second dose, you will receive a call to schedule the second dose.  To schedule an appointment for Monday, visit: https://waynecounty.as.me/waynecountycovidvaccine.  All available appointments are listed and more spots will be added as additional shipments arrive, so keep checking if they are all full.

Also next week, the county will be working with Wayne County Public Schools to start vaccinating public school teachers. If you are a WCPS employee needing a first dose, please schedule through your school.
