UScellular announces the winners of its annual Black History Month Art Contest.
Members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wayne County created original works of art honoring famous African Americans, and the public voted on those pieces throughout the month of February.
The winners of the contest were announced Wednesday at the Boys and Girls Club in Goldsboro.
Mary Ann Dudley, the Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wayne County, says the club’s partnership with UScellular over the years has also included book bag and school supply drives.
Dudley says she hopes the art contest provided a learning opportunity for the kids.
The Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County was one of 28 clubs across the country to participate in UScellular’s Black History Month Art Contest this year.
For the first time, public voting for the finalists’ art was available online.
The winning artists were awarded gift cards in the following amounts:
- Janaia Jones received $250 for 1st Place
- Destany Barnes received $150 for 2nd Place
- I’Najiah Eggleton received $100 for 3rd Place
