Shirley Edwards Hardison, 84, left this world to be with Jesus Tuesday evening.
Shirley was born in Duplin County on July 2, 1936 to the late Owen and Alpha Sandlin Edwards. She served as a field representative with Woodman of the World for many years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Willard Hardison. Together they faithfully served in ministry with Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years. For many years, Shirley served as the General Director of the Ladies Auxiliary for the P.F.W.B. Conference.
Shirley’s faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was her anchor. Her sincere smile, enthusiastic love of life, and concern for all people endeared her to those she met. She loved everyone, encouraged others, and had abundant energy.
A service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Free Chapel P.F.W.B. Church. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. Interment will be on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 12:00 noon in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Rev. Ferrell Hardison and wife Millie of Goldsboro, Chuck Hardison and wife Deborah of Pine Level, and Hal Hardison and wife Sharon of Clayton; grandchildren, Brandon Hardison and wife Amy, Zach Hardison, Spencer Hardison and Caroline Parker and husband Kyler; sister, Catherine Quinn of Beulaville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Mitch Hardison; sister, Delphia Penny; and brothers, Johnny Edwards and Roland Edwards.
