Shirley Gray Barbee Lassiter, 79, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Genesis in Mount Olive.

Shirley was born in Wilson County on September 14, 1941, one of ten children, to the late Carl and Bertha Pope Barbee. She was married for 54 years to the love of her life, the late Randolph “Monk” Lassiter.

Shirley was employed with Cherry Hospital when she began working. After starting her family, Shirley became the best mother who always took pride in caring for her family. Shirley and Monk loved their family and the time they spent with their children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Shirley’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. The family will also greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at her home. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Lassiter Family Cemetery on Lassiter Road, Princeton.

Shirley is survived by her son, Jeffrey Lynn Lassiter and wife Debbie; daughter, Donna Gail Lassiter; grandchildren, Brandon Lee Lassiter and wife Sara and Christopher James Lane; sisters, Pauline Morris and Louise Overbee; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
