Larry E. Johnson, 61, entered into rest on August 11, 2021. He was born in Lenoir County to the late Charles Edmond Johnson and Arlene Marie Cahoon Johnson on November 10, 1959.

The consummate family man, Larry was his wife’s buddy, best friend, and forever lover. With over 42 years of marriage, the two knew each other like the backs of their hands. A loving father and PaPa, Larry’s family will continue his legacy of love.

Times spent around Larry’s table were filled with laughter and the very best cooking. There wasn’t a dish that he couldn’t excel at making, but his spaghetti was everyone’s favorite. With a love for fishing, especially saltwater, he liked to take out the poles and drop a line, then come home to prepare for the table.

Larry had a quick wit and a comeback for everything. His sense of humor put a smile on everyone’s face. Most importantly, the love of Christ he felt so strongly was shared with friends and family. His family takes comfort in knowing he is with his Savior.

A service of remembrance will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Monday, August 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. Committal will follow at the Harrison-Cunningham Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Larry is survived by his wife, Cecelia “Twinkle” Cunningham Johnson; children, Kevin Edmond Johnson and Joshua Allen Johnson (Starla Rae Johnson); grandchildren, Lynsey Nicole Johnson, Shane Alexander Johnson, Sarah Grace Johnson, Isabella Marie Johnson, and Wyatt Jeremiah Johnson; brother, Karl Edwin Johnson (Lisa Collie Johnson); and niece, Amanda Johnson Seymour (Clay Seymour). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Percy Cleveland Cunningham, Sr. and Edna Marie Cunningham.
