An arrest is made for a Wayne County homicide.
Around 10 AM on Friday, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Fugitive Task Force, arrested 34-year-old Michael Todd Langley of La Grange for the murder of 29-year-old Jonathan Earl Midgette, who was found suffering from a fatal gunshot in front of his home on the 900 block of Lagrange Road on Thursday afternoon. Langley was arrested without incident during a traffic stop on US Highway 13 North in Goldsboro.
The following divisions within the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office participated in this investigation and rendered aid to the victim: Detective, Patrol, School Resource Officer, Warrants, Support Services, Detention, SWAT, and ACE. Other county agencies assisting with patient care were Wayne County EMS and New Hope VFD. Wayne County 911 Center telecommunicators were instrumental in collecting information and disseminating it. Outside agencies assisting were the North Carolina SBI Fugitive Task Force, North Carolina Dept. of Motor Vehicles, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, and the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.
Langley was charged with Murder and is in the Wayne County Detention Center.
