Information sessions for Wayne Community College’s next Nurse Aide I, Phlebotomy, and Sterile Processing classes will be held in November.
Anyone interested in enrolling in one of these courses in the Spring 2022 semester must attend an information session about the registration process for that program.
The sessions are scheduled for noon-1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Nov. 2, Nov. 9, and Nov. 16; and 5:30-7 p.m. on Mondays, Nov. 1, Nov. 8, and Nov. 15.
All sessions will be held in Room 101 of the Walnut Building on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro. WCC requires that face masks be worn inside its facilities and outside when appropriate distance cannot be maintained between individuals.
The sessions are free and do not require pre-registration.
Attendees must stay for the entire session in order to obtain registration paperwork. Registration will be held Nov. 22-Dec. 10.
Courses are offered at a variety of times during the day and in both traditional and hybrid (partially online) instructional methods. Specific schedules for each course will be announced at the information session. The spring term begins in early January.
The Nurse Aide I course introduces basic nursing assistant skills required to provide personal care for patients, residents, or clients in a health care setting. It prepares students for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program examination necessary for certification and listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.
The Phlebotomy Technician course trains students to draw blood specimens from patients. It is designed to prepare them to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology’s National Phlebotomy Certification Examination.
The Sterile Processing course include sterilization, disinfection, preparation, storage and distribution of instruments, inventory management, quality assurance, and more, preparing students for work in a hospital’s sterile processing department.
