(GDN) — Grads safely celebrate the end of another semester at Wayne Community College.
Nearly 400 total Summer and Fall 2021 graduates who have earned either combined degrees, diplomas and certificates were eligible to take part in Wednesday’s “Turn the Tassel” celebration at WCC.
79 ended up taking part in the event.
Guests watched as their graduates walked through the Atrium at the Wayne Learning Center to receive their honors.
18-year-old Jackson Anderson just graduated from high school in May and he already picked up his Associates in Mechanical Engineering thanks to advanced courses. Anderson thanks his teachers and praised the hands-on experience.
Geloria Alvarez picked up her Associates in Science and Associates in Arts on Wednesday. Alvarez is interested in Medical Lab Science, and she plans to go to ECU to pursue that and the Pathologist Assistant program.
Heather Gross picked up her Associates in Science Degree on Wednesday. Gross says she took a blend of online and in-person classes, and she’s still deciding on the next steps to take in her higher education and career.
This is the fourth time WCC has held the “Turn the Tassel” event as a safe alternative to a formal commencement ceremony during the ongoing pandemic.
