(GDN) – As is being seen across the state, Wayne County is experiencing a staggering jump in coronavirus cases.
According to Thursday’s figures from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, 1,191 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in Wayne County over the past two weeks. Wayne County has recorded 336 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began. Meanwhile, North Carolina set a new day-over-day record with 24,292 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Thursday.
Thursday’s figures from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services show 67,601 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Wayne County, which represents 55% of the county’s population. 61,152 people have been fully vaccinated, which is 50% of the population of Wayne County.
The COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots remain available through the Wayne County Health Department. Children 5-11 can now receive the Pfizer vaccine through the Wayne County Health Department. Visit WayneGov.com/vaccine to schedule a vaccination appointment.
