Wayne Community College students held a walk to to benefit the homeless population in Wayne County. The event, “A Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes,” was on Saturday, April 16 at Stoney Creek Park.
The cost to participate in the one-mile walk was a donation of new or gently used socks, shoes, clothes, or money. The team was comprised of students in the college’s Honors Leadership Development class.
One requirement of the course is to carry out projects that will improve the community. According to the group, 9,280 people in North Carolina are experiencing homelessness and many unhoused persons live in Wayne County.
