The City of Goldsboro has selected Robert “Bert” Sherman as the new Public Utilities Director.
“We are excited to have Mr. Sherman serve as the City Public Utilities Director. He has over 20 years of leadership and supervisor experience within the Public Utilities department. Mr. Sherman served the City well as the Interim Public Utilities Director and I look forward to what he will do to help grow Goldsboro.” said City Manager Tim Salmon.
Sherman came to the City of Goldsboro after leaving the Air Force. He started as a Wastewater Operator in June of 1994 and with 5 years he had obtained his Grade 4 Operators certification. In 1999, he was promoted to the Wastewater Reclamation Facility Superintendent. In September 2021, he was promoted to the Interim Public Utilities Director.
Sherman has been serving the citizens of Goldsboro for over 25 years. In his free time, he has served the local community coaching girls softball, soccer, boys and girls basketball, and is a Cub and Boys Scout leader. “I’m honored to be selected as the Public Utilities Director for the City of Goldsboro. Keeping the City of Goldsboro safe is my main priority. I will promote my values of family, teamwork, and professionalism throughout the Public Utilities department,” said Robert “Bert” Sherman.
Sherman’s start date in his new role was July 13, 2022.
