Goldsboro Police Department received a report on August 18th alleging that a 10-year-old juvenile victim had been sexually assaulted by a known assailant.

Goldsboro Police have identified the suspect as 69-year-old Joseph Michael Johnson Sr.  The investigation progressed, probable cause was developed and on August 25, 2022, a warrant was secured against Mr. Johnson for one count of Second Degree Forcible Sex Offense. Mr. Johnson turned himself into the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office and was served the warrant by the Goldsboro Warrant Division. Mr. Johnson was given a $50,000 secured bond and placed in the Wayne County Jail. He was given a first appearance on August 26.
