Shooting Victim Succumbs to Injuries

On Thursday, September 8, 2022, at approximately 6:06 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department’s Uniformed Patrol “C” Shift responded to the Emergency Department at Wayne UNC Health Care, located at 2700 Wayne Memorial Drive, in reference to an individual who arrived there suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Soon after police arrived, the victim was identified as Rakeem Demarko Holloway, 27, of Goldsboro. After Emergency Department personnel worked to stabilize Mr. Holloway to be airlifted to ECU Medical Center for more advanced treatment, Mr. Holloway succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. 

Members of the Goldsboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division were called out to assume the investigation, including criminal investigators and crime scene specialists. The investigation has now been upgraded to a homicide investigation.
