On Dec. 9, 2022, at approximately 11:54 a.m., officers with Goldsboro Police Department responded to a call of possible human remains located in a heavily wooded area near the intersection of E. Elm Street and S. Hillcrest Drive. Officers responded to the location and confirmed the finding.

A crime scene was established, and the Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau responded to the scene. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office also rendered assistance with a K-9 Unit. At this time, the remains are unidentified, and the investigation is still developing.
