December 11, 2022, 78, Goldsboro –

Linda Davis Smith, 78, of Goldsboro, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro with Bishop Eugene Hartley officiating.   Burial will follow at Pine Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rosewood.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Linda was born in Wayne County on February 25, 1944, to the late Dillard and Sadie Ferrell Davis.  She had previously worked with BB&T and Wayne County Social Services and retired from Pine Forest United Methodist Church as Secretary.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Lee Braswell Starling of Princeton; two grandchildren, Justin Boyette & Cody Starling; one great-grandson, Rueben Boyette; two brothers, Royce Davis and Dearl Davis and wife, Glenda of Goldsboro and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Dalton Smith; her son, Lason Christopher Smith; one sister, Velda Davis Anderson and five brothers, Rudolph Davis, Leslie Davis, Elmer Ray Davis, Kenneth Davis, and Connie Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to 3HC (Home, Health & Hospice) and Kitty Askins Hospice Center.  The family would like to say thank you to 3HC and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for all their support and medical team staff for the care given.
