On March 7, 2023, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Goldsboro Police Department’s Housing Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 2300 block of US 117 South for a traffic violation. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, a concealed SCCY 9mm handgun was recovered.
The front seat passenger, 40-year old Rontragus Atkins, was taken into custody without incident. Police say during a search approximately 11 bags of suspected cocaine were found on his person.
Atkins was transported to the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office where he was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (F), Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine (F), and Carrying a Concealed Gun (M). Mr. Atkins was held at the Wayne County Jail on an $11,000 secured bond.
