One of the service members killed in in a crash involving two Army Black Hawk medical evacuation helicopters on a training exercise in Kentucky has a connection to Wayne County

Pastor Tim Gore of Fremont Missionary Baptist Church in Wayne County said one of those killed was his son.

A tribute to Caleb Gore has been set up in front of the church to thank him for his service and sacrifice.

Pastor Gore says “Feel free to bring flowers or anything sharing words of comfort and peace to the family.” The church is located at 108 Vance Street Fremont, NC.

Pastor Gore noted that Caleb’s wife, Haileigh is currently just over three months pregnant.
They just found out this week they’re having a boy.

The crash is under investigation. The two HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters crashed around 10 p.m. Wednesday in Trigg County near the Tennessee border.

“This is a truly tragic loss for these families, our Division and Fort Campbell. Our number one priority is caring for the families and the soldiers within our combat aviation brigade,” said Brig. Gen. John Lubas.
