Off the Block announced on Monday the recipients of the National Position Player of the Week Awards and Trevor Treser of Mount Olive earned Libero of the Week honors. This is the second time Treser has received the honor this season (March 20).
A senior libero from Wexford, Pennsylvania, Treser led the defensive effort and tallied double-digit digs in all three non-conference matches last week for Mount Olive with just one reception error. The Conference Carolinas men’s volleyball Specialist of the Week produced 11 digs with three assists over three sets at Queens last Tuesday. Treser registered a season-high 18 digs against Lincoln Memorial this past Friday before totaling 16 digs and four assists on Saturday, April 8 in a 3-1 win over Tusculum. He averaged 4.1 digs per set on the week.
This is the fifth national men’s volleyball honor for Conference Carolinas this season and third Libero of the Week honor.
The National Position Player of the Week Awards recognizes the libero, middle attacker, opposite, outside attacker and setter who had the best performances in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball during the week. In addition, the National Player of the Week is presented to the top freshman from the week in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball.
The Off the Block staff determines each award recipient. The winners are announced every week during the regular season on the Off the Block website, offtheblockblog.com.
While there are other weekly national awards in college men’s volleyball, these are the only position-based weekly awards.
