Update on Leslie Street Shooting

Al the victims of the Leslie Street shooting incident were teenagers, and a 15-year-old died from her injuries.

Update from the Goldsboro Police Department:

On April 12, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department received several alerts from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system in the area of N. Leslie St. and E. Walnut St. Officers also received several 911 calls of shots fired in the same area.

The first Officers arrived within two minutes of being dispatched. They observed a scene containing a large crowd of people in the 100 block of N. Leslie St. Officers were able to locate four gunshot victims ranging in age from 15 to 19 years old. Three victims were transported to UNC Health Wayne by Wayne County EMS. One victim, a 15-year-old juvenile female, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two additional teenage victims arrived at UNC Health Wayne by personal vehicle.

The Goldsboro Police Department received assistance from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Highway Patrol with securing the scene. The Goldsboro Fire Department also offered assistance at the scene. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was contacted and responded to the scene with investigators and crime scene specialists. This investigation is still developing. 

The Goldsboro Police Department is currently utilizing every available resource to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident. The Goldsboro Police Department extends its appreciation to the agencies that have given and offered assistance since the incident occurred.

Police are releasing few details about a shooting at a party last night.

Around 6:31 Wednesday evening, officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a shooting at a gathering at a home on 112 N. Leslie Street.  

Police say 6 people were hit by gunfire.  One victim is dead.  Five others were taken to UNC Health Wayne.  All five are in stable condition.

A woman told an ABC11 (WTVD)  news crew at the scene that her 14-year-old daughter had been shot and killed…the Goldsboro City Police have NOT confirmed that detail.
