Mount Olive Captures Second Straight Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis Championship Title

Third-seeded Mount Olive captured its second consecutive Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis Championship with a thrilling 4-3 win over top-seeded Erskine in the final on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center. 

Mount Olive with its tournament win earns Conference Carolinas’ automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Championship. The NCAA will unveil the full field for the championship at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, April 24, on NCAA.com. 

Mount Olive opened its win over Erskine in the final by collecting the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The second doubles flight was left unfinished. Jessica Aylward and Laura Servien of Mount Olive first defeated Czarina Aguirre and Hanna Vasconez at No. 3 doubles before Mount Olive’s Liza Voloshyna and Nele Weber made sure that the Trojans garnered the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-3) victory over the Erskine No. 1 doubles duo of Emma Bentz and Luize Valtere. 

The two teams would eventually be tied at 3-3 and it all would go down to the fifth singles spot with Servien battling back to best Aguirre, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, to give the Trojans the team win and the tournament title.
